A selection panel from North East Bedfordshire Conservative members met last Friday to vote on a prospective candidate for the next General Election. The meeting was chaired by a member of the regional Conservative committee, John Peach. The panel heard from Richard Fuller MP, were able to ask questions on policy, future plans, and to hear about what Richard had been doing recently in Parliament.
Following a lengthy question session the members present took part in a secret ballot. Richard was reselected unanimously to be the prospective candidate for the new constituency of North Bedfordshire.
Speaking after the vote Richard said; 'I am delighted to have been reselected, and thank everyone here for taking the time to come tonight and ask thoughtful and probing questions. I look forward to continuing to work together for all the residents in the constituency.'
NEBCA Chairman Eve Burt commented; 'Richard has worked very hard for us since the 2019 election, during some very challenging times for the country and the constituency. The boundary changes for this constituency are not as radical as some, but we will miss our south east wards that will be moving into the new Hitchin constituency. I am delighted that Richard was successful at this selection panel, and very much look forward to our continued work together as a team in NEBCA, and progress towards the next General Election.'
